Azerbaijan sees five-fold surge in raw sugar imports from Colombia

Overall, Azerbaijan imported 48,206 tons of raw sugar, valued at $30.53 million in the first four months of 2024, marking a decrease of 41% and 37%, respectively, year-on-year, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan purchased 36,000 tons (-56%) of raw sugar from Brazil for $22.438 million (-54%), 12,000 tons from Russia (no supply a year ago) for $7.97 million, 44.38 tons (+5.3 times) from Colombia for $87,000 (+5.4 times), 9.14 tons (+2.7 times) from Mauritius for $26,940 (+3 times), 0.19 tons (+36%) from Germany for $760 (+73%).
Meanwhile, in 2023, Azerbaijan imported 258,700 tons of raw sugar from nine countries, 94.5% of which came from Brazil.
