Within the state support measures for the development of animal-breeding in Azerbaijan, interest to the import of productive animals from other countries has increased. Report informs, citing the Ministry of Agriculture.

According to the information, breeding of the cattle and small horned animals imported by supplying companies and entrepreneurs extends in local economies. One of the local companies has recently imported Lagoon sorts from Europe. These sheep differ from the domestic sheep for their milk and meat features, as well as they adapt to a new climate quickly.

Farmer Karim Huseynov said the farmers are interested in developing sheep-breeding: ‘A program was launched in the country to develop the animal breeding. We – farmers try to develop the sheep-breeding. We have brought Lagoon sheep from Europe. These sheep are not capricious. Most of them breed twins. We can also get nearly 23 liters of milk from those animals. They give 30-35 kg of meat in 3.5 months. We have already imported 400 sheep, another 300 will be delivered soon. We are planning to increase the number to 2,000 sheep in the future.’
