Azerbaijan, Belarus expanding range of supplied agricultural products

Belarus’ export of agricultural products to Azerbaijan in 2020 increased by 10.7 percent, according to the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry following an online meeting between Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Ivan Krupko and Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Food Safety Agency Goshgar Tahmazli, Report informs referring to BelTA.

“Belarus and Azerbaijan maintain close cooperation in trade. In 2020, the trade in agricultural and food products reached $35 million, up by 5.3 percent over 2019. Belarus’ export totaled $30.4 million (up by 10.7 percent year-on-year) and import came at $4.6 million. In January 2021, Belarus export of agricultural products to Azerbaijan amounted to $2.1 million (up by 5.8 percent),” the press service said.

Belarusian exports to Azerbaijan include a wide range of dairy products, meat products, and confectionery. Main imports from Azerbaijan include vegetables, gourds, berries, and fruit. Belarus’ top suppliers to Azerbaijan are Belovezhskiye Syry, Luninets Dairy Factory, Molochny Mir, Rogachev Milk Canning Factory, Kalinkovichi Dairy Factory, Lida Milk Canning Factory, and Minsk Dairy Plant No.1.

Ivan Krupko and Goshgar Tahmazli discussed ways to advance Belarus-Azerbaijan trade and economic cooperation, including boosting mutual trade and expanding the range of supplied products. They also considered cooperation in veterinary control, horticulture, pedigree livestock breeding, agricultural education and research.

“The parties stressed the importance and effectiveness of participation in exhibitions, fairs, and forums in agriculture hosted by Belarus and Azerbaijan. Ivan Krupko invited Azerbaijan to attend the international expo Belagro 2021 that will be running in Minsk on 1-5 June,” the press service noted.

Belarusian enterprises intend to take part in the international food industry expo InterFood Azerbaijan in June 2021.
