Azerbaijan begins papaya imports from two nations

Azerbaijan imported 1.33 tons of papaya, valued at $10,740 in the initial five months of 2024, Report informs, citing the country's State Statistical Committee.
According to the obtained data, the imports rose by 4 times in volume and 2.5 times in value compared to the corresponding period of 2023.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan bought 1.1 tons of papaya from Luxembourg worth $9,220 (no supply a year ago), 0.1 ton from China worth $790, 0.03 ton (-90%) from Brazil worth $470 (-89%), 0.02 ton from Egypt worth $100, 0.04 ton from Thailand $100 (no supply a year ago).
In 2024, marking the first instance in 13 years since official foreign trade statistics became publicly available in 2011, Azerbaijan commenced papaya imports from China and Egypt.
