One of the major goals of the Agriculture Ministry for 2022 is to neutralize the effects of climate change, promote the efficient use of water resources, and expand the use of water-saving technologies, Firdovsi Fikratzada, chairman of the Agrarian Research Center of the Agriculture Ministry, said.
The new technologies allow a more flexible assessment of crop needs, he opined.
"The ministry is implementing a pilot project on digital agriculture in the Guba-Khachmaz region. As a result, operative information is sent out to farmers. This year, it is planned to expand the areas where such operational technologies will be applied. At the same time, we aim to increase the share of modern irrigation systems in arable land."
He added that the development of modern seed production pursues two targets.
"Expanding the use of certified seeds, i.e. quality seeds and strengthening the capacity of local seeds. We have established seed and seedling companies that will soon pass international certification to export products to regional countries in the near future."
Firdovsi Fikratzada said that an animal identification system is planned to be introduced this year.
"There are also calls for the expansion of intensive farming. One of the main tasks is to restructure the information and advisory service system for farmers and create a system that covers all farmers."
