Facilities in territory of North-South project starts to replace

Baku. 4 July. REPORT.AZ/ Development of soil bedding has been completed at 7km of new railway of one-way 8,3 km from Azerbaijan's Astara railway station to Iranian state border. Also, 24 units of 32-meter-deep foundation have been built at the rail bridge, which will be built over Astara river.

Report was told by spokesperson of 'Azerbaijan Railways' CJSC Nadir Azmammadov.

'About 100 equipment involved to the area of complex landscape. Replacement of electricity and gas lines is underway. This work will be completed in the near future. Totally, 315 facilities should be replaced, 10 of them are houses. 60 facilities, including 3 houses have already been replaced. Others documentation is underway', N.Azmammadov said.

Notably, construction of both the bridge and railway is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.

The agreement on the North-South international transport corridor has been signed by Russia, Iran and India in St. Petersburg on September 12, 2000. After relevant internal procedures in the mentioned states, the agreement came into force on May 21, 2002. Azerbaijan joined the transaction 'On North-South international transport corridor' in September, 2005.
