Bid for 2024 Olympic Games launched

Baku. 16 January. REPORT.AZ/ The International Olympic Committee (IOC) launched the bid for 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympics Games. Report informs, National Olympic Committees wishing to organize the Olympic Games and potential candidate cities may exchange views with IOC on September 15, 2015.

For this purpose, an invitation letter was sent to all countries. Germany, Italy and the United States hve already announced their intention to join this campaign. 40 amendments approved in the last session of IOC contributed to an increase in the number of candidates. According to those innovations, inviting tender process will be based on the invitation, the main advantages and the risks of the cities that want to put forward their candidature will be determined correctly, the costs of Order Application and the organization of Games will be reduced. In addition, IOC will spend 1.5 billion dollars on the organization of 2024 Olympic Games. Baku is among the cities who want to put forward its candidature. The name of winner city will be announced in Lima, the capital of Peru in 2017.
