Law enforcement authorities conduct large-scale operations in bordering areas to Russia

Baku. 18 May. REPORT.AZ Azerbaijani law-enforcement agencies launched large-scale operations in the border areas with Russia. Report informs that "Frontier Shield" operations are carried out in the north-western regions.

"Frontier Shield" operations are conducted in Gakh region. The posts were established in the entry and exit of the region. Inspections are going on for 24 hours. During the day, incoming and outgoing vehicles are being investigated.

"Frontier Shield" operations are carried out in accordance with the agreement reached by Azerbaijan and Russia. The main purpose of the operation is to struggle against transnational organized crime, illegal migration, drug trafficking, illegal arms trafficking in the border areas of both states.

The operations will continue for 4 days.
