Azercell to create opportunities for local start-ups in the international market

Baku. 3 August. REPORT.AZ/ Local qualification round for Seedstars World competition among Azerbaijani start-ups will take place in Baku on August 7-12. Winners of the qualification round will get an opportunity to represent our country in world-known competition and compete for USD 500 thousand in investment, Report informs referring to Azercell.

Seedstars World is the global competition to identify talanted youth in emerging and fast-growing start-up market. The competition is aimed at providing support for entrepreneurs in emerging countries.

While Seedstars World covered 39 countries last year, now there are 50 countries participating in this competition. It drew the attention of entrepreneurs from Silicon Valley (center for hi-tech companies in California, US) and Western Europe. Past participants of the competition were able to create more than 360 jobs and attract investment in the amount of USD 20 million. Having MEST, Google for Entrepreneurs and Microsoft as its partners, Seedstars World provides platform for innovative start-ups and supports regional business.

Azercell Teecom LLC, leading mobile operator in Azerbaijan, collaborates with Swiss company of Seedstars in the World Start-up Competition. Imran Baghirov, Strategic Adjacencies and Customer Channels Department Director, has been appointed as a Seedstars World ambassador.

Qualification rounds of World Start-up Competition starting on August 7, will be held with the organizational support of Barama Innovative and Entrepreneurship Center under Azercell and ADA University. The winners will qualify for World Start-up Competition to take place in Switzerland in February, 2016, and get a chance to present their projects to European and world investors and attract USD 500 thousand in investment.

In addition, newly established direction called STARS provides an opportunity for start-ups in travel and financial technology to show their ideas.

Those wishing to join the competition may register by August 7.
