New USAID Mission Director outlines priorities of the organization's activities in Azerbaijan

Baku. 29 September. REPORT.AZ/ Currently, the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Azerbaijan implements programs to support the development of non-oil sector, the integration of the national economy in the world markets, as well as strengthening management processes.

Report informs, newly appointed director of the USAID mission in Azerbaijan Mikaela Meredith said.

"We are pleased to see Azerbaijan making steady progress in many areas", she said.

Introducing the new director of the US Agency for International Development, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert F.Cekuta announced that, M. Meredith before she took up this appointment, worked at three high-ranking positions, in Iraq, Sudan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and she is intimately familiar with the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

The U.S. Ambassador stated that, the purpose of the USAID mission "is working with the Azerbaijani side and support to build a strong and prosperous Azerbaijan."

The ambassador noted that, in total during of all the years of USAID's activity about 1.5 bln. US dollars has been allocated in Azerbaijan for implementation of projects in this country.
