​NATO representatives to arrive in Azerbaijan to discuss cooperation within IPAP Stefan Elgersma: Cooperation between NATO and Azerbaijan is developing steadily

Baku. 7 March. REPORT.AZ/ NATO representatives will arrive in Azerbaijan next week to discuss further co-operation in the framework of the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) between Azerbaijan and NATO.

Report informs, the official representative of NATO Headquarters Stefan Elgersma said at international conference in Baku entitled NATO Warsaw Summit: Opportunities and expectations.

"Cooperation between NATO and Azerbaijan is developing steadily. We are pleased with our practical cooperation," said Stefan Elgersma.

Speaking about the situation on the world political arena, Elgersma noted that in 2014 the situation began to deteriorate, that also caused certain challenges for the Alliance. He noted significance of collective action for the defense. In this context, NATO spokesman stressed importance of cooperation with the South Caucasus. Elgersma reported that up to date NATO and Azerbaijan had implemented a variety of activities in such areas as emergency management and demining. Elgersma also noted the importance of the fact that today several Azerbaijani officers work in NATO.

At the same time, Elgersma drew attention to the fact that three South Caucasian countries have different approaches to cooperation with NATO and "we respect their attitudes."
