Head of Council of Europe Office: Azerbaijan can be a bridge between EU and OIC

Baku. 13 October. REPORT.AZ/ Baku has hosted presentation of mid-term results of projects for Eastern Partnership countries, including Azerbaijan.

Report informs, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Baku, Dragana Filipovic provided detailed information on the program and projects. She expressed gratitude to all the partners on behalf of both the Council of Europe and Azerbaijan for the support to the projects.

Noting importance of Azerbaijan, D.Filipovic added that Azerbaijan can be a bridge not only between Europe and Asia, but also between the European Union and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

In turn, Head of the EU Delegation to Baku, Malena Mard stressed high level of cooperation between the European Union and Azerbaijan. She said that within the framework of the projects, the sides will share their experiences in planned different fields.

Notably, the four projects to be carried out in Azerbaijan under the Programmatic Cooperation Framework in 2015-2017 focus on improving media freedom and freedom of expression, strengthening capacities to fight and prevent corruption.

The 4.7 million Euro projects are funded by the EU and the Council of Europe.
