Azerbaijani President receives EU Special Representative for South Caucasus

Baku. 29 April. REPORT.AZ/ Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by the European Union Special Representative for South Caucasus, Herbert Salber, Report informs. 

Herbert Salber noted that, they closely followed developments in the region and expressed his concern over the situation on the frontline and said that conflict settlement is needed now more than ever.

The head of the state noted that. Azerbaijan as being the most interested party in the solution of Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and in the negotiations on this issue, and also stressed that more than 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories were occupied, and this situation continues for many years. He also said that the taken steps did not yield any results. President Ilham Aliyev said that Armenia is trying to keep the status quo by committing various armed provocations on the contact line. The President expressed his regret on EU not to make a concrete position on resolving the conflict.

The sides exchanged views on the issues relating to the status and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU during the meeting.
