Azerbaijani national team to meet Norway in World Cup qualifying group stage

Baku. 8 October. REPORT.AZ/ Today, Azerbaijani national team will play its second match of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia qualifying group stage.

Report informs, the rival will be Norway team.

Group C match will allow Robert Prosinečki's team to keep its current place and continue successfully. The team, which defeated San Marino at first away match (1:0), will maintain second place at least, if wins home match.

So, the teams will meet for the 5th time. The two teams were rivals at 1998 World Cup France qualifying group stage for the first time. On June 2, 1996, Norway team gained big win - 5:0. In Baku return match September 6, 1997, the team took 3 points after 1:0 win.

The teams met at qualifying round of the tournament, hosted by France and Norway team collected 4 points from 2 matches. At Norway match on November 16, 2014, the hosts won with minimal score again - 1:0. However, June 15, 2015 return match ended in a draw - 0:0.
