"Atlas of Karabakh dialects" to be prepared

Baku. 10 March. REPORT.AZ/ "Atlas of Karabakh dialects" to be prepared. Atlas covers dialects of Karabakh residents, living for obvious reasons, not only in Karabakh, but also in other regions.

Report informs, said in his statement the head of the department of history and language dialects Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi of National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Teyyub Guliyev.

According to him, the main objective is to prepare dialectological atlas of Azerbaijan as a whole: "We have planned a five-step edition of the atlas. They are atlas of Nakhchivan, Karabakh, Derbend, Southern Azerbaijan and Karabakh".

As noted T.Guliyev, most of the carriers of the Karabakh dialect is currently living in different regions of Azerbaijan: "Impulsory residency of Karabakh residents in other regions leads to mixing of dialects. We are planning to organize an expedition to the tent cities and to gather the necessary materials. Some materials are available. Taking them as a basic, we also will examine the changes. The atlas will also include maps and CDs with recordings in mp3 format".
