Israel opposes the restoration of the Syrian army by Türkiye, and also demands to limit the deployment of strategic weapons, including missiles and air defense systems, in Syria, Report informs referring to Al Arabiya, citing Israeli Channel 12 sources, revealing new details of the upcoming security agreement between Syria and Israel.
According to sources, such a step, in Tel Aviv's opinion, will allow maintaining freedom of action and air superiority of the Israeli Air Force in the region.
The agreement also includes provisions on the creation of a humanitarian corridor in Jabal al-Druze in Suwayda province to support the Druze community, as well as on the disarmament of the Syrian Golan Heights. In addition, the document provides for international assistance in the restoration of Syria with the support of the United States and Arab countries in order to stabilize the situation and limit Iran's influence.
The President of the interim government of Syria, Ahmad Al-Sharaa, stressed that the agreement should be based on the 1974 separation line. Meanwhile, the Golan Heights, occupied by Israel since 1967, remain a key point of tension.
